Python is a young object-oriented programming language that was developed in the beginning of the 1990s.  It is very easy to learn, but extremely powerful and can be used for creating compact, but robust applications.

Python, similar to Java, runs on many platforms like Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2, Amiga, Palm Handhelds, and even Nokia mobile phones. Its most popular implementations are: CPython, Jython, IronPython, and PyPy.
