PeerBlock is an excellent free security program that scans the connection you make with various websites while browsing online and determines which one of them contains malicious software or aggressive advertisements. With a very simple user interface, novice users can control the connections of their computer, effectively severing the connection with the servers that are sending unwanted content, advertisement, p2p connections, hacker connections, and more.

⚠ Note: This product is not developed anymore and might not function properly.

By shutting connection to those servers your computer remains safe, and by using predefined lists you can deny access to a wide variety of domains, governments, corporations, or even domains from entire countries.

The first version of PeerBlock appeared on the internet on 27 September 2009, created with the efforts of the three developers under the leadership of Mark Bulas. They took the code of older versions of PeerGuardian and infused it with better OS compatibility and more tools.

As of early 2014, Peer Block is available for use only in the English language and is still collecting money from donations for the creation of their private online virtual servers that will serve as a central update service. For now, online updates of blocked content are performed with the help of the 3rd party servers.

Whether you want to protect yourself from outside threats or you want to hide your activities from others, the tool is a perfect solution for you. It is very important to notice that the official supplier of the blocking lists that the app uses the I-Blocklist has restricted access to free users of this app, offering them only able to refresh their lists no more than once per week.

Additional refreshes are possible with usage charges. This business arrangement was created in cooperation with the developers of Peer Block, who are earning a peace of that subscription money.
