In this game, six players take on the role of Survivors, who must work together to solve puzzles, retrieve toy parts, and avoid contact with the monsters that have taken over the factory. Meanwhile, one player takes on the role of the Monster, whose goal is to hunt down and kill all of the Survivors.
As a Survivor, you will be given a powerful tool known as the GrabPack, which features two long, extendable arms that can be used to carry heavy objects, complete puzzles, and even slam doors shut in the face of the monster.
Additionally, Survivors can purchase and upgrade perks using in-game currency called Toy Tickets, which allow them to tailor their abilities to suit their playstyle, whether it be as a Puzzle Master, Medic, Speed Demon, or Shadow Walker.

The Monster, on the other hand, has access to three distinct characters to choose from, each one a living, gargantuan monstrosity based off a Playtime Co. toy. Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Legs, and newcomer Boxy Boo all offer their own sets of abilities and unique styles of play. The Monster can also purchase and upgrade abilities called Sabotages using Toy Tickets, which allow them to blind the Survivors, boobytrap their path, and destroy their GrabPacks.
The PROJECT: PLAYTIME game takes place within the Playtime Co. toy factory, which features two massive maps with various sections to explore, including a state-of-the-art theater with statues of fake gold and a manufacturing area filled with toys.
Additionally, players can purchase and customize their characters with a rotating shop featuring new cosmetics and a seasonal Toy Box, which offers 100 levels of cosmetic glory.
While the concept of PROJECT: PLAYTIME is promising, the game is still in development and currently lacks a lot in terms of execution, particularly in terms of creating and joining games.
However, with its unique asymmetric gameplay and terrifying monsters, it has the potential to be an exciting and thrilling multiplayer horror experience.

What is PROJECT: PLAYTIME and how does the gameplay work?
PROJECT: PLAYTIME is a free-to-play multiplayer horror game where six players work together to build a giant toy while avoiding a seventh player who controls a monster. Survivors use the GrabPack to solve puzzles, collect resources, and escape, while the Monster's objective is to hunt them down.
Is PROJECT: PLAYTIME still playable in 2026?
Yes, for now. The game remains playable on Steam, but Mob Entertainment announced in July 2026 that development is ending and that the servers will be shut down later in 2026. The game therefore has a limited remaining lifespan as an online title.
Is PROJECT: PLAYTIME worth playing before the servers close?
It can be, especially for fans of Poppy Playtime and multiplayer horror. The game still has a small but active player base, although numbers have fallen considerably during 2026. With the announced server closure approaching, it is best viewed as a legacy multiplayer experience with limited remaining availability, rather than a game receiving a long-term future of updates.
