Microsoft ActiveSync is data synchronization software for Windows Mobile-based devices, which was created to improve the communication between desktop computers and Handheld PCs with mobile phones. The ActiveSync helps the user transfer files, applications, pictures, calendars, Outlook express lists, and other data between these devices. By having this app, users who own Windows Mobile smartphones can easily exchange data with their PCs, but because this app and Windows Mobile platform has long been discounted, regular updates have enabled it to be usable only on PCs that have Windows XP SP2 or older operating systems. There are also limitations in what Outlook versions can be used with this app, with the newest supported version being Outlook 2003.
User interface of Microsoft ActiveSync and very archaic, with zero visual flare or hint of modern design (which is not strange for app that is this old and did not receive new updates for a long time). Main dashboard has simple tool for starting and stopping syncing, setting up schedule and exploring synced files. There are no big things that user can customize about syncing or modify much in the way app operates.
Microsoft ActiveSync covers all versions of Windows Mobile, including version Microsoft Smartphone 2002, Microsoft Pocket PC 2002, Microsoft® Windows Mobile 2003 (and Second Edition), Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 and Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0.
