The best feature of this app is its ability to handle video edits without the need to re-encode media into brand-new files. It simply cuts video and audio files, with the final results being transferred to the local storage using simple copy command of the selected project parts with full lossless quality. This makes the entire procedure of extracting clips or removing unnecessary video sections fast and streamlined, without losing time and hardware resources on lengthy encoding. However, it is notable that this app can only cut and trim files and does not support any service for joining several files together, making it unusable for projects where users have to create video compilations.
Created by a single developer Mikael Finstad, this video editing tool has received numerous updates over the years, enabling users to take full control over their media files. The app supports track selection for video container formats (MKV and MP4), a screenshot tool, and a very extensive timeline UI module where users can perform detailed actions. The UI of the app features excellent tool discovery, enabling even video editing beginners to quickly master the procedure of cutting and trimming unwanted sections from their videos.
Some of the additional features found in LosslessCut are the ability to remove audio or video tracks from the file, import subtitles, extract music and subtitles, change container format, convert H264 MKVs to be compatible with iPhone and iPad playback, utilize timecode offset, simple video rotating tool, export and import list of cut times, create looping videos without re-encoding, and more. LosslessCut is 100% FREE and is optimized for all modern versions of Windows OS.
