Floppy disks are no longer used anymore. They were popular in the past, though, because no other portable device existed at the time.

A floppy disk had a small storage capacity, but it was enough to store basic media content and documents. These disks were even used for system recovery purposes.

Since floppy disks are almost extinct, the next best solution for storing diagnostic utilities is on a CD disc. Either that or you can use a removable USB flash drive.

The most recommended solution is a bootable CD which includes all the features that would be on a bootable floppy disk. As a result, you only need one disc to store all the necessary utilities.

The single disc you need is the Ultimate Boot CD. This tool features every diagnostic utility imaginable for recovery and backup purposes. Furthermore, you can use this tool to create your own bootable CD. Then if your computer ever fails, this CD can restore its functionality back to normal.

User Interface

The interface of the UBCD is kind of like the BIOS interface. If you’re familiar with BIOS, then you shouldn’t have a problem getting used to the Ultimate Boot CD. Once the bootable CD is created and placed into your computer’s CD/DVD drive, you will see a text-based menu pop up on the screen. This will let you choose the utility to execute.

How it Functions

This Boot CD basically establishes a virtual floppy drive on your computer. In other words, your computer will detect it like a floppy drive and not a CD drive.

Conclusion

Overall, the Boot CD lets you use utilities that are on a removable drive just like you would if they were on a CD disc.
