The Emsisoft Commandline Scanner is a console-based tool designed for professionals who do not require a GUI. It is included in the following products: Emsisoft Anti-Malware Home, Emsisoft Business Security, Emsisoft Enterprise Security, and Emsisoft Remediation Kit.

For system administrators, security experts, and experienced command-line users. Check your system for malware infection with the Emsisoft CS.

Defines if the Anti-Malware service is to be used for scanning. Background: When running many short scans, loading the scan engine afresh at each start of a2cmd is inefficient. Using the /s or /service parameter makes the Anti-Malware service load the engine and keep it loaded for later scans.

If the service is not yet started or installed it is installed and started when the service parameter is run for the first time. This command is not available in the Emsisoft Emergency Kit because the service component is not included. Start the Emsisoft Commandline Scanner by executing the "Start Commandline Scanner" shortcut in the extracted folder.

How it works

Start by opening the Windows prompt as an administrator (Start - Run - cmd.exe) and navigate to the folder that contains a2cmd.exe. For example, if you have Emsisoft Anti-Malware installed, type:

cd "%ProgramFiles%\Emsisoft Anti-Malware"

Then, start the app by typing:

a2cmd.exe

Another option is to use the Emsisoft Remediation Kit. Simply execute the "Start Commandline Scanner" shortcut in the extracted folder.

The program as part of the Emsisoft Emergency Kit is free for private use. For commercial use please purchase a license of one of the available business products.

- In the past, the /s (/service) parameter had to be used for all scans that were to be performed by the integrated Windows service. In the new version, the /s parameter is only used once to install the service, but then no longer needed to run scans. That helps to simplify the scanning process
- A new parameter /uninstallservice was introduced that allows you to remove the service component if it’s no longer needed
