Instead of defending humanity, you control a microscopic parasite attempting to infect and conquer a human host.
Each run sends your organism through procedurally generated lungs, intestines, heart chambers, neural pathways, and other biological environments.
You defeat immune cells, collect their organelles, and attach those components to your pathogen to improve its weapons, movement, defense, and special abilities.
Its strongest idea is the organism-building system. Flagella improve mobility, secretors provide ranged attacks, spikes support close combat, and internal organelles modify connected body parts.
Positioning matters because linked components can create powerful effects and unusual combat combinations.
With seven pathogens, six body regions, more than 120 organelles and mutations, bosses, persistent upgrades, and local cooperative play, the game offers considerable replay value.

The FileHorse gaming team recommends Pathogenic to players who enjoy creative character builds, responsive combat, and challenging roguelites.
Features
Custom Pathogen Building: Attach collected organelles to create a unique biological fighting machine.
Seven Playable Pathogens: Unlock organisms with different layouts, mechanics, and upgrade trees.
More Than 120 Upgrades: Combine mutations and organelles into highly specialized builds.
Twin-Stick Combat: Move, aim, dodge, and attack independently during fast encounters.
Procedural Body Regions: Explore changing room layouts across six distinctive organs.
Immune-System Enemies: Fight macrophages, T cells, rival parasites, and major bosses.
Plasmid Progression: Spend collected fragments on permanent improvements between attempts.
Soft-Body Physics: Cells, enemies, and projectiles stretch and react with organic movement.
Local Co-op: Infect the host alongside another player on the same PC.
Fast Travel: Return instantly to previously cleared rooms instead of repeating long routes.
User Interface
The interface presents health, ammunition, the minimap, equipped organelles, and active effects without covering too much of the battlefield.

Bright colors keep enemies and projectiles readable during hectic encounters.
The organism editor is more complex. Players must understand body nodes, internal and external slots, connections, and upgrade descriptions.
Some organelles look similar, but detailed tooltips help when comparing parts.
Controller support feels particularly natural, although mouse and keyboard controls remain precise and responsive.
