Teardown is a physics-driven puzzle game for the Windows PC platform that allows gamers of all ages to experience a world that perfectly reacts to player actions such as breaking down walls, setting off explosives, and interacting with particle-driven effects such as fire, smoke, and water.

Realized in striking pixelized style, Teardown offers everyone a way to experience a truly simulated and fully destructible environment, with various tools that can be used to solve an incredible variety of tasks, including bold heists that will test the limits of player’s tactical thinking and creative problem-solving.

Developed and published exclusively on the PC digital market by micro-indie team Tuxedo Labs in 2020 as an Early Access title, Teardown quickly managed to attract a considerable amount of attention from both gamers and worldwide media, receiving several notable awards nominations and wins in 2020 and 2021. In the spring of 2022, this game officially exited from Early Access development, becoming one of the most notable PC-exclusive puzzle games on the modern market.

Main features

Teardown is distributed online via the Steam digital store, enabling anyone to quickly download and play it using automated procedures built into the Steam client app. Once started, the game transports users into a first-person environment where they can explore and test the impressive destruction systems in early simple puzzle levels.

However, during the duration of the 11-hour-long campaign, this game will quickly elevate its puzzle complexity, tasking players to start thinking more tactically when planning their heists. This includes deliberation on the entry methods, the destruction that is needed to exit the heist area, and the use of procedural elements (such as falling objects, breaking of walls, propagation of fire, and much more).

The visual presentation of Teardown game is not unique (as it follows the basic visual style of blocky Minecraft), but its procedural destruction engine drastically elevates the immersion and makes it distinct from many other FPS games that feature either fully static environments or allow only low levels of destructibility. Here, every brick and object can be destroyed and dislodged, which will trigger realistic physic-driven forces to propagate to nearby objects.

Nothing is apparent like this than the effective use of fire, which can realistically move across flammable objects, leading to the total destruction of buildings. Users are empowered to use 17 distinct tools, finish a story campaign with over 40 missions, enjoy sandbox mode, or expand the game functionality with community-created mods.
