Terraria is a popular 2D survival sandbox game developed by Re-Logic and published by 505 Games. Since its original release in 2011, this engaging and ever-evolving title has expanded its reach to many other platforms besides PC, eventually selling over 35 million copies by the end of 2021.



Similarly like in the megahit game Minecraft, Terraria is basing its gameplay around players living in a procedurally generated world where they have to explore, craft, build, and fight in order to survive. Only in this game, the entire gameplay is focused on eye-catching 2D visuals that can easily run on almost any PC amiable today.

The core gameplay of the Terraria game revolves around the player’s main character that must survive in a harsh environment without many resources. But, as time goes on, resource gathering and crafting can help players to start building structures, making more efficient weapons, and successfully fighting back against the harsh nature that surrounds them.

The game especially shines in an online environment, where multiple players can unleash their creativity and combine their efforts in taming the wilderness. There are no end goals, there is no main quest to be solved. The players are freed to spend time as they like, managing their settlement, building structures from their dreams, finding combat challenges, or just passing times with their online friends.

As of early 2021, this game has finally gotten official support for user mods that are distributed through Steam Workshop. These mods include specially crafted worlds, new gameplay options, full game conversions, music mods, user-made translations, adventure mods, and much more. As of early 2021, Steam Workshop hosts an impressive library of over 2260 free downloadable mods.

Due to its simple visual presentation style, Terraria is truly friendly to older PC configurations. It requires just a 2GHz single-core processor, 2.5GM of RAM, and a DirectX 9.0c compatible video card, although dual-core CPU and 4GB of RAM are recommended. The game is optimized for all modern versions of Windows OS (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10).
