Timer is a free lightweight time management utility that allows Windows PC users to create stylish and highly modular countdown timers that can last from mere seconds to days. Free Timer application for Windows is distributed online in two varieties – as an automated installer that can be easily deployed on any modern desktop or laptop PC, and a compressed archive that holds a portable version of the app that can be easily moved from one PC to another by being stored on a removable USB drive. Once started, users get access to a streamlined main dashboard that allows for the easy creation of new countdown timers.

Most of the app is dedicated to the visual representation of a clock face, with an overall dark interface that is illuminated with the bright colors of the clock face and the remaining time that has not yet run out. The precise controls for setting up the countdown timer are located at the very bottom of the dashboard, with tools for managing Hours, Minutes, and Seconds, with Start/Reset buttons located immediately near them.

The top of the app features a theme selector that can swap an active dark theme into a white one, as well as a notification sound customization tool that can produce either system sounds or playback of custom MP3 files. Other options include support for full-screen rendering of the clock (very useful for users that want to broadcast their countdown timer to the nearby audience, teachers during school tests), metronome (at the following steps – 1 second, 5 seconds, and 1 minute), and UI language picker.

Several interface languages have been corrected, and a bug that created an empty folder in the user's AppData\Roaming directory has been fixed.
