Windows Calculator is a free pre-installed app on all Windows 11/10 devices, but it is also available for free to download in the Microsoft Store for all users who have experienced issues with their local app due to missing files, file corruption, or other types of errors.

This lightweight but highly versatile app offers all Windows 11 and Windows 10 users access to a wide array of basic and advanced functions, making it one of the most used standalone apps that Microsoft has ever developed.

This multifunctional calculator offers a wide range of features, including standard, scientific, programmer, and graphing calculator capabilities, as well as converters for various units of measurement and currencies. It's an ideal solution for tackling math problems, organizing finances, graphing and analyzing equations, and solving algebraic, trigonometric, and complex mathematical expressions with ease.

Main Features

Microsoft Calculator comes with two basic modes of operations – one focused on various calculation modes, while the second is fully oriented on various converter functions.

In its most basic mode, the app provides simple arithmetic calculations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. A separate section covers scientific calculations like square roots, logarithms, and trigonometric functions, but users can also switch to modes that can visualize various formulas, and even calculate HEX/DEC/OCT/BIN data for use in programming. The app can easily manage all forms of statistical and financial calculations, making it an invaluable tool not only at home and school but also at work.

As an added bonus, in its MS Calculator mode, the app can also do some Date functions such as calculating the day difference between two chosen dates and adding/subtracting days from the chosen date.

In its converter mode, the app can handle an incredible number of conversions. This includes modes such as Currency, Volume, Length, Weight/Mass, Temperature, Energy, Area, Speed, Time, and more.

The user interface supports two distinct modes, a regular dashboard that can be resized (even to fill the full screen) and a mini-mode that is activated by clicking on the “Keep to the Top” (Alt + Up) icon that is found on the screen only when the app is in its basic “Standard” calculator mode.

The app also features a history module that allows users to view their previous calculations and easily copy or reuse them, saving time and effort. The app supports two basic themes (Light, Dark, and the app can also switch between them automatically via the third “Use system setting” option).

PROS:
  • User-friendly interface
  • Basic and scientific mode
  • Quick calculations
  • History feature
  • Unit conversions
CONS:
  • Limited advanced functions
  • Not suitable for complex calculations
  • Lack of customization options
Overall

Windows Calculator app is a powerful and versatile tool for users who need to perform calculations on their Windows 11/10 devices. Its easy-to-use interface, history feature, and ability to switch between basic and advanced modes make it a valuable addition to any home user, student, or professional.
