World Soccer Winning Eleven is a football simulation game developed and published by Konami in 2007 and is notable for being their first soccer title that was developed for home consoles Wii and PS3. It is also known internationally under several different names - Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, PES 2008, PES 4, World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2008, or World Soccer: Winning Eleven 11.

After this game, Konami unified the naming structure of their games and focused only on the Pro Evolution Soccer brand. The cover athletes for this release in the popular PES franchise were Portugal and (at the time) Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo, and one other guest star that depended on the country where the game was sold - Michael Owen in the UK, Didier Drogba in France, and others.

The core advancements found in the 2008 version of World Soccer Winning Eleven WSWE were focused on increased playability due to better physics, more robust animation systems, TV-like presentation, and the addition of several new features that were not present in previous titles. This includes the introduction of visible referees on the pitch, the addition of dirt, grass and mud marks on the players' uniforms, cautions for repeated offenses, and for the first time in the series, an increase of player skills after winning trophies.

The officially licensed leagues featured in this title were Spanish La Liga, French Ligue 1, Italian Serie A, and Dutch Eredivisie. English premier league was partially unlicensed, while German Bundesliga was fully unlicensed. The game offered players access to the 18 generic teams that could be placed into one big league, which emulated the structure of the German Bundesliga.

Similarly like in other PES titles, these missing leagues and teams were quickly added by the large mod-making community on PC, making a PC release of World Soccer Winning Eleven the best version of this game.

Today, World Soccer Winning Eleven is regarded as a turning point in the PES franchise, enabling Konami to unify its worldwide brand under one name and start increasing the number of officially licensed teams, leagues, player licenses, and stadiums.
