Baldis Basics 32bit is an indie horror-comedy educational game developed by Micah McGonigal under the moniker "Mystman12." Released in 2018, it gained popularity due to its surreal and unsettling atmosphere mixed with elements of classic educational games.

If you remember the standard Windows educational games from the 1990s, then you will love this game. It pays tribute to those classic ‘90s games on Windows, but with horror, the element added to it.

The objective of the game is to avoid an evil teacher named Baldi and his henchmen. You can avoid them by grabbing various notebooks and solving different math questions. Once you make it outside of the school by answering enough questions, then you win.

Engaging and Educational

Can you name any other free horror game that makes it fun to learn math? Baldis Basics in Education and Learning is certainly an original game. It even includes a storyline with multiple layers that make it challenging for you to finish the game.

You’re trying to prevent your character from getting caught by Baldi as you make your way out of the school. This requires you to avoid attention whenever possible. The best way to avoid attention is by answering math questions correctly. But if you get them wrong, then it enrages Baldi and causes your escape path to be more difficult to reach.

Lots of Characters

Baldis Basics game helps users enhance both their math skills and spelling skills. Since it creates such a unique and fun learning environment for children, it will make them want to learn these skills on their own.

The character in the game is supposed to locate seven different notebooks that are hidden throughout the school. As the character searches for the books, they must avoid other characters and obstacles that are associated with Baldi. Their goal is to slow down the progress of the main character. In order to get out of school, the main character must understand the behavior and personality of each member of Baldi’s crew.

Some of the obstacles include the principal, a giant brush, and an anthropomorphic rock. If you fail to avoid these obstacles, they will take your notebooks and slow your progress in the game.

The Questions are Fun and Easy

The math questions are mostly addition and subtraction-based, although some of the answers might have negative numbers in them. If you give a wrong answer, you make Baldi very angry. He uses that anger to motivate you to improve your math skills by working harder at building them. Baldi continues to have hyperactive reactions to your answers in order to keep you on the right path.

Don’t expect the storylines to be as engaging as what you’d find in Fallout or Final Fantasy VII. Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning is a simple game that has graphics from the 1990s. You’ll feel like you’re transported back in time as you solve the math problems.

As you play the game, you can increase the stamina of your character by finding certain items. Then you have a better chance of defeating Baldi or at least stopping him from entering your occupied spaces. If your character runs down the corridors, attempts to cheat, or uses the faculty rooms, then the principal will stop you.

The music is not the greatest, but the fun and interactive nature of the game makes up for it. Besides, horror games from the ‘90s are supposed to have strange music and sound effects. Perhaps you can think of it that way.

PROS
  • Unique blend of horror and education.
  • Nostalgic homage to '90s Windows games.
  • Engaging gameplay with educational value.
  • Multiple layers of challenge and storyline.
  • Enhances math and spelling skills in a fun way.
CONS
  • Outdated graphics and simplistic gameplay.
  • Limited depth compared to mainstream games.
  • Music and sound effects may not appeal to all.
  • Characters and obstacles may feel repetitive.
  • Educational content may not suit all preferences.
Therefore, it is worth downloading Baldi’s Basics, especially the unblocked version.
