Beat Saber is a virtual reality rhythm game that offers players of all ages an immersive and unique gaming experience of immersing into a futuristic world while slashing beats with their sabers in sync with the music.

Requires a virtual reality headset. See system requirements for more information.

Since its premiere on the PC VR scene in 2019, this popular rhythm game managed to become one of the most popular VR games of all time, attracting incredible attention from the worldwide gaming population and even non-gamers who are interested in music, active recreation, and casual fitness routines. In addition to PC-based VR systems, Beat Saber VR can today also be experienced on standalone Oculus Quest mobile VR devices, as well as on PlayStation VR/VR2 console platforms.

Review

Beat Saber VR is an absolutely incredible game that combines the excitement of Guitar Hero and Fruit Ninja with lightsabers. It's a must-have for anyone who owns a VR headset. The game comes with a fantastic selection of music, with difficulty levels ranging from easy to expert+. But what really sets Beat Saber apart is the massive modding community, dedicated to making an already great game even better. With so many custom songs, sabers, character models, and platforms to choose from, it's hard to believe that any song hasn't been turned into a beatsaver map yet.

Playing Beat Saber with mods is the only way to go, though. The base game and DLC songs just aren't worth it. To access all the DLC songs, you'll need to pay an additional $100+, or simply mod the game and enjoy unlimited songs created by the community. The mods are what keep this game alive, and the developers should take a page out of Osu!'s book and properly support modding and song creation instead of deleting all mods with each update.

But when you have a few friends over, Beat Saber is an absolute. Hooking your PC up to a TV and playing on party mode is a fantastic way to have fun with friends, watching each other fail and compete for the highest scores. We are glad that the review team at FileHorse can suggest such an excellent VR game to you!

Main Features

Like many other rhythm music games, Beat Saber visualized various rhythm and melody sections of popular music tracks and provides users a way to react to those moments with their interaction. However, instead of just pressing buttons, inside this game users wield stylish lightsabers and need to cut the incoming music beats with their hand movements.

As songs become more complex, the required moves can become much more engaging, requiring precise coordination, timing, and the use of advanced moves. It is important to note that all levels in the game are not automatically generated but are handcrafted for the most optimal gaming experience.

The game is simple to play, but difficult to master on higher difficulty settings, making it a perfect title in which anyone can lose hours while listening to their favorite songs.

In addition to the single-song mode, the game offers a challenging campaign mode that allows players to improve their skills while completing objectives and challenges, which is perfect for players who are looking for a more structured and challenging gaming experience.

In addition to the campaign mode, Beat Saber also offers a multiplayer mode that enables players to compete against friends or other players around the world. This feature adds a whole new level of competition to the game and allows players to showcase their skills to a wider audience.

Pricing

Beat Saber is a premium VR game that comes with a wide selection of popular songs. However, users can easily expand their available catalog of songs with over 100 accessible DLCs which come in form of both individual songs and song packs. PC users can also add their own songs via a simple modding feature.
