Author / Product:
A powerful online image editing and design tool that offers a wide range of features and capabilities similar to professional image editing software. It is known for its versatility, user-friendly interface, and compatibility with various file formats, including PSD (Adobe Photoshop), XCF (GIMP), XD (Adobe XD), CDR (CorelDRAW), and Sketch files.
Right now, It works with the sRGB color space (the basic color space for the web), with the 8-bit color depth. All exported files use sRGB, too.
It works in a web browser. It can be started by going to www.Photopea.com. It can run on any device (desktop, laptop, tablet, phone, or any other computer), but for the best comfort, we recommend having a big screen, a precise pointing device (a mouse or a stylus), and a keyboard.
Photopea for Desktop runs completely on your device, just like Sketch or Photoshop does. It does not upload any of your files to the internet. You can load the site, disconnect from the internet, and keep using it completely offline. None of your files ever leaves your computer.
The workspace of Photopea is very similar to other image editors. It consists of the Toolbar on the left, the Sidebar on the right, the Working area in the middle, and the Top menu at the top.
It offers you many ways to manipulate layers. You can move them, rotate, bend, etc. Each PSD document consists of layers. The layer represents some part of the image. It is usually an area filled with transparent, partially transparent, or opaque pixels. Layers are rendered one on top of another, to create the final image. You usually edit just one layer at a time. Changing (moving, rotating, drawing into) one layer has no effect on other layers.
Brush tools are all tools, which use a "brush track". You usually draw strokes on some layer and a brush tool edits pixels along with your strokes. It can be a Brush, an Eraser, a Smudge tool, etc. When there is a selection, the tool edits only pixels within this selection.
It has a rich set of tools to work with vector graphics. Vector graphics can be stored in Paths, Vector Masks, or Shape Layers.
It enables users to work with multiple layers, allowing for non-destructive editing and precise control over various elements within an image.
The web app offers a variety of selection tools, such as the marquee, lasso, and magic wand, enabling users to make precise selections for targeted editing.
Filters and Effects
With an extensive collection of filters and effects, it empowers users to apply artistic enhancements, adjust colors, and add visual flair to their images.
The webapp includes a range of retouching tools, including healing brushes, clone stamps, and content-aware fill, to remove imperfections and blemishes seamlessly.
It allows users to add and manipulate text within their images, offering a range of font options, formatting tools, and layer blending options for creative typography.
It boasts a clean and intuitive user interface reminiscent of traditional photo editing software. The layout is thoughtfully designed, with toolbars and panels neatly organized for easy access. While the interface may initially seem overwhelming for beginners, the learning curve is relatively gentle, aided by a comprehensive set of tutorials and documentation available on the Photopea website.
Installation and Setup (WebApp)
One of the standout features of Photopea is its accessibility, as it runs entirely within a web browser without requiring any installation or system resources. Simply navigate to the official website, and you can start editing your photos instantly. This platform-independent approach allows users to work seamlessly across various devices and operating systems.
